love adrift

i saw love float by on a cloud,
i watched her hand stretch out,
reaching for me,
but our hands could never be
grasped by one another

i see storms

grey puffed billowy tufts
float on by, moving past us,
they drop their essence
a million unwrapped presents
all over the earth and sea,
now as ever i see we to be
who we are, alive,
since once again the rain has arrived

look up then look around

pyramids were first made of flesh,
nations are made of sweat and souls,
interconnectivity is only accomplished through pressure on 2 sides,

we live in what we saw,
we dwell in what they draw
as lines, our ancestors and the raw
shadow dwelling power brokers paw
at our psyche's to make us caw
to forces we'd never drawl
an utterance to if we could see through
what was really at brew,
all the things we never knew
the well to do
upper classes view
as what we are to imbue
unto them, our masters
the one's that do capture
our daily lives, the hours and sights that plaster
most of our existence, while shattered
is what colors the persistence splattered
over most of those all over the globe,
their life is like an uneven strobe
with more dark than a black robe
with a white belt, they make us explode
into wars and other hate to disrobe
us as people, stripped down to a lobe
when we need to use our whole ear,
as human beings we need to hear
and honestly be truly clear
about what's happening around the sphere
we are forced to adhere
to for no other reason than the most clear,
if one person hurts, we all do

soldiers

they do it for us,
so stop with your rations of fuss,
those that go to fight for us
americans on foreign soil
didn't go so that arco could pump some more oil,
those that burn in the toil
of war zones are far from home
because their hearts know
that they have to go,
as lions for lambs,
they are the ones who take a stand
to make sure we have a homeland,
they go with guns in hand with no thoughts of
an empire, throwing themselves into fire
and brimstone so that us at home
can know what we already know,
without interruption,
see we're all aware of circumstance and corruption
as they function in our dream-heart land of consumption,
but an eruption way beyond what happened in pompeii
could bring about a day where you gotta run or stay,
and if you choose to stay it's time for some gun play
to determine who's land you're on,
invading forces don't wait for dance or song,
so i'm grateful that our military peeps soldier through the throng
of threats trying to pass a test to be the one who gets
the best of our defense, if they do it's up to the rest
of all those left behind to hold the line
otherwise our future is defined by the time
and recollection dictated under direction
from another nations inflections
as they complete their ascension,
there are a million intersections to every insurrection,
and they are happening around the globe,
if you love your daily life and your home,
you better thank the one's who choose to roam
under our flag, to protect us.

i am a poet

i am a poet,
you'd never know it seeing me on the streets,
i only show it with written verse
and when i speak you catch a peek
a boo as words run through in a jumbled milieu
to do what they need to do,

i am a poet
i know it, grow it, and bestow it
by just letting go i let the words show
me where they wanna be i'm just a mirror, they use me
to slick back thier hair, to strut with a flair
that electrifies the air as it climbs in your ears
images become clear & spirits appear
because

i am a poet,
sorcerer, priest, my incantations release primal beats,
fleece emotions and raise beasts from the oceans,
utilizing verbal potions i intoxicate a crowd
and refuse to put them down till they all feel out-loud

i am a poet,
you'd never know it by seeing me in the streets,
i only show it with written verse and when i speak,
i'm a word stylist, i fluff and primp,
the verbs i enlist stomp and kick,
in the begining there was the word, there to was i,
peaceful center of the storm as it blows on by

haiti fundraiser 4

a place of bounty
abounding in abundance,
a place where all have access to sustenance,
a place where prosperity is achieved with temerity,
and a better tomorrow is there with no clarity,
there i see
a new haiti
in the not so distant future,
but only if the love the need sutured
is delivered with speed,
they need us now,
will you make a vow
to do something to help out,
to reach inside and then reach out
to a nation on its knees about
to be drowned by hurricane season?
they've not yet dug out,
please help them out,
you've got reasons, motivations,
and you're in the situation
where you may not be able to actually be there,
but because you care
you can make them feel you,
thank you those of you
who have widened your world view
and embraced haiti without haste,
it is important that people
regardless of race,
class,
shape of face,
grasp this very place
in time to define the shine they'll leave behind,
our teachings and tales define
the life line of those next in line,
what world they find
when they come of age
is being set up as we write this page
of history, listen to me,
we gotta heal each other,
help each other,
touch each other,
embrace those that need you,
go out in the world
and brighten someone's view

haiti fundraiser 3

you already forgot about haiti,
don't front,
you let it slip from your mind,
the thought was a runt,
caught up in the daily grind
it disappeared like coins in couch cushions,
you fell back to the comforting illusions of life,
and conclusions that it's alright
cuz it's out of sight
despite the fact that the desperation's not tracked
by our nightly news, i advise you
to never confuse activity for achievement,
the depths of bereavement are not absent,
cries of hunger and loss are not silent,
violence is being done to everyone
of the daughters and sons
living out of shanty homes dropped to rubble,
now in tent cities they huddle humbled,
clearly their place in the world is not muddled or subtle,
they know as world focus goes
so to goes their chances to get up and go,
to genuinely overthrow the clutches of poverty,
currently holding 80% of their populace,
craving to crawl out of destruction
and live out a life free of mud cake eating sustenance hypocrisy,
just how far this goes we have yet to see,
but we're here, so in some part
we're carrying a torch for humanity

haiti fundraiser 2

the sky is falling,
death is calling,
as weather is drawing
a chalk line around an island of impoverished,
but we,
the international community
can do something,
one thing
is better than no thing,
we can bring awareness
to the careless casualness
of lives untouched by destruction all around us,
we can donate and discuss,
we can make a fuss with those who represent us,
we can thrust
ourselves directly into the fight
to save a nation from the dying of its light,
we must rage against silence, that is our fight,
to not let these people slip into the night,
if it was us in their shoes we'd hope and we'd pray
for help to rebuild and a way to pay
back the assistance once laid at our feet,
don't ignore how this plays if the shoes switched feet
and we walked a mile with our nation in piles
of debris every where the eye could see,
misery for our elders, babies, you and me,
we can be who we would pray for,
we may not be saviors
but we can't walk away
without trying to help them survive one more day,
it matters not what deity to whom you pray,
or if you believe in that sort of thing anyway,
it matters not if you're red, green, blue, or gray,
your party affiliation holds no bit of sway,
what matters is what you do with your today,
how you help your fellow man,
how you did display your compassion,
for some it lights the way to brighter days

haiti fundraiser 1

right now it's late in a land far away,
the livestock are sleeping after a long day,
the fields are all flooded,
so are the homes,
at least those still standing, most are piled like bones
of the dead who didn't make it past the thunderous quake,
so i ask that you give, help the haitians to take
back a little bit of life, in this moment where strife,
death and destruction litter everything in sight in the dark of night,
little girls are getting raped, vigilantes rove and take
from whoever they can, a quick scan shows mouth to hand
sustenance, united nations and haitian cops are observing this
from a distance,
you can be sure hurricanes wont miss hispanola as their season hits,
the lives of 1.3 million people displaced, 230,000 lost lives interlace
with your soul right here in this moment, in this very place,
with our intentions
we shall reshape the fates

hello

i can't explain the way
it feels as i breath,
or the same sensation that stays
when i meet
the play of your presence on my day
as my senses greet
the rain of you today,
it is quiet a treat

looking at life

i rip up and rearrange all the strange
common things i encounter in deranged
states of mind, i find all the time
little things that stir my kind
of curiosity and make me see
things i didn't see before,
so i explore other scenes i never fathomed
wondering why, when, and how things happened,
i'm ranging around, probing at different topics
while looking to see who profits
and why they brought it
to fruition,
it's just my mission
to dig and look deeper,
knowledge for me is as certain as the reaper,
i keep all the gems i find
to nourish my mind,
then i puke out the info
in my daily convo's

eye i

i am the master of these landscapes,
i am the one who makes them take shape,
i bend and i becon to scenes & then take
their likeness and image in order to make
my views
